On December 19, the city of Terrassa witnessed the inauguration of the Virtual Water Museum of Terrassa, a project resulting from the collaboration between the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the Terrassa Water Observatory (OAT), and the Terrassa City Council.

The Virtual Water Museum of Terrassa focuses on highlighting the pioneering work carried out by the citizens of Terrassa in the remunicipalization of water, a process that culminated in the creation of the OAT. This initiative serves as an example of how active and critical community participation can lead significant changes in water resource management, promoting a more just and democratic approach.

The exhibition provides a detailed view of the research groups and initiatives of the OAT, which continuously open new horizons in water resource management. Through the exhibition’s educational content, visitors can explore the mechanisms of citizen participation that have made Terrassa a model for water management at the regional and national levels.

This project is part of a close collaboration that has already planned new activities for 2025, reaffirming the commitment of the involved institutions to environmental sustainability and community well-being. The inauguration of the 'Virtual Water Museum of Terrassa' not only celebrates a significant achievement but also sets a precedent for future initiatives aimed at strengthening awareness and collective action around water management.

With this initiative, Terrassa establishes itself as a benchmark for sustainable and democratic water management, inspiring other communities to follow its example and work together toward a more resilient and sustainable future.

The exhibition will be open to visitors in the lobby of the TR1 Building at The School of Industrial, Aerospace, and Audiovisual Engineering of Terrassa (ESEIAAT) from December 19, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
