Urban adaptation to resilient futures in informal settlements

This joint research program is intended to support critical approaches to investigate  the reality of urban informality, to help reveal the complexity of power relations and social exclusion in urban development, and to guide adaptation in terms of social and urban design for adaptive futures in response to these challenges.

The program is the result of collaboration between UNESCOSOST - the UNESCO Chair of Sustainability at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the Urban Resilience to Extremes - Sustainability Research Network (URExSRN) coordinated from Arizona State University (ASU), and the Faculty of Habitat Sciences of La Salle University in Bogotá, Colombia

Together we share the aim to build a network of cities, institutions and researchers working on the theme of urban resilience to extreme weather events, and we are committed to co-produce knowledge that facilitates the transition to a sustainable future.
