ECORKWASTE presented at EU Seminar

Summary
On September 22, the conference "EU seminar: Smart and sustainable cities, lessons learned and opportunities within H2020" was held in Padova, Italy. The event was organized by the European Commission, the EASME executive agency and the University of Padova (UNIMART).

The researcher Joana Castellar represented the project LIFE14 ENV/ES/ 460-titled ECORKWASTE, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainability and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development of Brazil.

 

During the event, The European Commission presented the main objectives related to sustainable urban innovation. Representatives of the H2020 projects in climate and resilient cities presented their objectives and lessons learned.

The participatory development of cities and the implementation of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) were the highlights during the whole event. The cork sub-product used as granular media in treatment wetlands and green walls, natural technologies, is an alternative solution to improve the pollutants elimination in agroindustrial and urban wastewater.

This type of event offers a unique opportunity to promote the projects developed by the European Union, to share the knowledge acquired and to promote future collaborations.
